How To Fit Your Pads

Getting the right fit for your pads isn't just about comfort. It’s about ensuring the correct protection, mobility, and confidence on the field.

Shoulder pads don’t just protect your shoulders. They help shield your collarbone, sternum, and upper back from high-impact hits. If they don’t fit right, they can’t do their job. That’s why LEGION builds gear engineered for precision and why proper sizing matters just as much as protection.

Steps to Find Your Best Fit

Step 1: Measure Shoulder Width
Use a flexible measuring tape and measure straight across the top of the back, from one acromioclavicular (AC) joint to the other. This point sits just above your armpits, where your collarbone meets the shoulder.

Step 2: Match With LEGION’s Sizing Chart
Once you have your measurements, reference our size chart to find the best match based on your age group, position, and level of play. If you’re in-between sizes, we recommend sizing up for more coverage or down for a more contoured, streamlined fit, depending on your position and style of play.

Step 3: Check the Fit
You’ve got the size. Now, make sure it fits right. Your pads should cover your shoulders without drooping or riding up. Straps should be snug but not restrictive. The arch should sit comfortably over the chest and back without limiting arm movement or visibility. If your gear pinches, slides, or floats, it’s time to size up or down.

Why Fit Matters?

The wrong fit puts you at risk. Pads that are too loose won’t stay in place under contact. Pads that are too tight can limit breathing, restrict motion, and reduce airflow. A proper fit means better protection, mobility, and endurance, so you can stay focused on your game, not your gear.
